After subscribing, you'll receive a unique magic link to share with trusted contacts. Each person you invite can download the app and join your safety network. Invited members can also invite one additional person using their own link. Your subscription covers up to 10 people total.

No. Emergency contacts receive your alerts via standard SMS text message — no app, no account, no setup required on their end. They get a tap-to-open map link with your exact GPS coordinates and your custom alert message.

During onboarding, the app walks you through creating your first alert message. You can write any message that fits your situation — "I'm Safe," "Send Help," "Call 911," or anything custom. Yes. Active SOS works anywhere you have phone signal. It transmits your last known GPS coordinates even with limited coverage. No special international plan or settings are required — it uses your phone's native GPS.

Yes — you can create as many custom alert messages as you need and arrange them in your preferred order. Examples: "I'm Safe," "Send Help Now," "Call 911," "Pick Me Up," "SEND SUPPLIES," or anything specific to your situation. Each user in your network sets their own alerts independently.

Yes. You can create groups — Family, Work Team, Care Team, etc. — and assign specific alerts to specific groups. When you trigger an alert, you can choose to send it to one group, multiple groups, or everyone in your network.

Your contact receives an SMS text message containing: your custom alert text (e.g., "Send Help Now"), your exact GPS coordinates as a tap-to-open map link, your name, and the time the alert was sent. The map link works in any browser — no app required to view your location.

Active SOS uses your phone's native iOS or Android GPS, which is accurate enough to identify your floor level in multi-story buildings. It works on both cellular and Wi-Fi networks. No special hardware is required.

Subscriptions are managed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). To cancel, go to your device's subscription settings and cancel Active SOS. You'll retain access until the end of your current billing period. For help, email support@activesos.com.

Your subscription covers up to 10 people — you plus up to 9 additional family members, caregivers, or team members. Each person you invite can also invite one additional person using their own magic link invitation.

Since billing is processed through Apple or Google, most billing questions should be directed to them first. For anything specific to your Active SOS account, email support@activesos.com and we'll respond personally, usually same day.

No. Active SOS never tracks your location in the background. Your GPS coordinates are only captured and sent at the exact moment you press the alert button. Between alerts, we have zero access to your location. This is a core design principle — not just a setting.

Never. Active SOS does not sell, rent, or share your personal information or location data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for commercial purposes. Your data is used only to deliver the Active SOS service to you. See our full Privacy Policy.

Yes — for healthcare use cases. Active SOS is a HIPAA-compliant Remote Patient Monitoring platform. We enter into signed Business Associate Agreements (BAA) with enrolling healthcare providers. All data is encrypted with TLS 1.2+ in transit and AES-256 at rest. See the RPM & Triage page for full compliance details.
